New Dog Yoga Calendar!

A range of dog breeds, a camera and some questionable photo-shopping are tools of the trade for Texan couple Dan and Alejandra Borris, who intend to create calendars using 26 images of dogs in a variety of yoga poses. Including a golden retriever in warrior stance, a bulldog in a handstand and a weimariner doing the splits, this is bound to be a hit with dog-lovers all over the world!

Of course, it will please animals lovers to know that the dogs weren’t forced into any of these strange poses; “There is no forcing the animal to do anything” says photographer Dan Borris, “We will get the dog in a general position but each dog that I photograph is well looked after…The dogs get as close as they can with the yoga moves but some of those positions in the calendar are anatomically impossible” Sounds like a wise move to me; I can’t imagine the pet insurance covering yoga accidents!

The British Bulldog is a broad, stocky breed with wide shoulders and a wide head covered in thick folds of skin – giving the appearance of a perpetually furrowed brow. The dark, round eyes are set far apart above a short, squashed-looked muzzle and powerful underbite jaw.

Although famously bred for tackling bulls and used in blood-sports in the 17th Century, modern Bulldogs are docile and friendly animals that make good family pets. Despite being sometimes stubborn, Bulldogs are quite easily trained, rarely bark and almost never feel the urge to run off!
